Troubleshooting the download

If you have Windows XP and your attempt to download the font was unsuccessful, please install the fonts following these steps:

Step 1:
Download the fonts zip file. It is best to download this to your desktop, then delete it when the installation is complete. You will need a zip utility to open this file. Most versions of Windows XP come with a zip utility. If you do not have a zip utility, you can download one at the WinZip web site at http://www.winzip.com (site will open in a new window).

Step 2:
Double click the fonts.zip file. A window should open, showing two fonts - ER UniversIV2 and ER UniversIF2 (sometimes displayed as ERIV and ERIF). Leave this window open during step 3.

Step 3:
Open your fonts folder. To do this, click on the "Start" menu, then select "Control Panel." A window will open with several icons. Click on the icon for "Appearance and Themes." In this window, look to the upper left corner, and click on "fonts" (If you are using Windows XP in classic mode, there is an icon called "fonts" directly in the control panel). A window should open, showing all the fonts you have installed on your computer.

Windows XP Control Panel
The Appearance and Themes Panel
The Windows XP font folder

Step 4:
Click and drag the fonts from the window in step 2 into the fonts folder you opened in Step 3. You should get a window flashing up quickly saying "Installing Fonts." When the files "ER UniversIV2" and "ER UniversIF2" (or ERIV and ERIF) appear in your fonts folder, the fonts are installed.

Step 5:
Return to the font check

If you have completed all these steps, and still you cannot get the test sentence to appear in Cyrillic, please contact a member of the Russnet staff. Indicate any specific problem, your operating system (Windows, Macintosh, Linux, etc.) and browser(Netscape, Internet Explorer, Opera, etc.)

NOTE:   Leave your browser encoding/character set on "Western/Latin". You do not need to change it to any kind of Cyrillic encoding.
